[Ella's eyes just light up at the first two words.]
Nope! We're definitely going on a beach picnic. One thing I really like about here is how the beach is always warm enough to swim at. I mean, you can swim in LA if you're determined enough but here you don't need to do the thing we're your worried about your toes falling off! Do you wanna come in while I grab my stuff?
I mean not as much as I'd like to considering how weird everything gets here. But I've definitely been going enough to tell you were the best parking and drinks are. There's this guy who also sells amazing ices. Looks totally sketch? But man, definitely the best. I'll show you if you want!
[Leading her into a very clean bedroom, Ella just gives her friend a grin before grabbing her already packed beach bag from the back of her closet door.]
Pack it when I'm like doing laundry. Figure it just makes things easier to grab and go, ya know?
[ Granted, she doesn't live near the beach anymore so she's never ready. Of course, she was never ready at home, either. It was a good day when Trixie's laundry got into the dryer before it started smelling like mildew. ]
I mean, if I can’t live at home, there’s worse places to live. I really wanna get my own place though I think this whole roommate thing is totally driving me nuts. That might be next on my agenda. Maybe even before chickens!
Out back. It's not mine, obviously. Like if I had a horse I totally would
have told you before! But I was never really a horsey girl. It's just too
big and too much and just not really a me thing.
Yeah, that sounds awesome! I'm really excited for this. I honestly miss seeing you guys every day. I keep considering making a move, but I don't know how I feel about hopping back into the cold again.
Up by you guys maybe. Like it’s weird because I’ve made some friends here but not like a lot. I mean not that I always have a huge amount of friends or anything but a lot of the time it seems like any time I get used to you know making headway? Poof! Gone! Back into the ether.
I get it. It can be kind of hard to get attached to people here. But people disappear at home, too.
[ She smiles a little sadly. ]
You know Lucifer and I would love if you moved up near us. Though we could think about Heropa, too. He wants to buy a club and I can be a cop anywhere.
But you're a cop though. Even if they made you a security guard here, that
doesn't make you any less of a cop. It's not like a profession with you!
It's who you are.
Chloe, he loves you. He’s loved you for like as long as I’ve known him even if he is like you know totally really bad at actually showing it? Being who you are isn’t going to disappoint him. Not really. He’s gonna love you no matter what.
Can he get a job with the police here? Like he did before. I mean he can be
our very own like Sherlock Holmes! The Elementary guy, not like you know
the other one.
He doesn't have the same pull with the police chief here. I guess he could if he turned on his mojo but... I don't really know if that's what he really wants, either.
Well, I mean you two don't have to work together anymore. It's not
like you need the excuse to be together, not now when you're finally dating
and admitting what I've known all along: team deckerstar.

[ If she wants help with her chicken prep, Chloe could probably lend a hand. ]

[ Chloe smiles, stepping into the house and dropping her bag at the door. ]
The beach is definitely nicer here than in LA. Do you get the chance to get down there a lot?

You must really like living here.

[ She shrugs, but smiles while she does it. ]
You should definitely get your own place. Would your roommates even be okay with chickens?
no subject
[And then she shrugs a bit herself.]
I mean we've got like dogs and a horse so!
no subject
[ He's very thoughtful. At least, when it suits him to be. ]
Wait, you have a horse? Where?
[ Please don't say the bathtub. ]
no subject
Out back. It's not mine, obviously. Like if I had a horse I totally would have told you before! But I was never really a horsey girl. It's just too big and too much and just not really a me thing.

[ Way too busy doing other things. ]
Come on, let's go scope a place on the beach and we can catch up.

[Ella just follows Chloe to her car with a grin.]

[ Chloe drops the stuff in the car and gets in, waiting for Ella to settle. ]
Where are you thinking about moving to?
no subject

no subject
You guys definitely should! Lucifer would fit right in here and I could use a club that I’ve got an in too!
no subject
[ Ella is her best friend and her sister. Not seeing her every day sucks. ]
no subject
I mean. I can always help! I’m pretty persuasive sometimes! And we could see each other all the time!
[Chloe is definitely not the only one who misses her sister!]
Maybe we should start working on him from the beach!
no subject
no subject
[Ella just grins broadly at that, even if it's not really an actual girls night when they were missing Maze and Linda.]
no subject
[ No work, no kids, no Lucifer. Just her and Ella and the beach and maybe a few too many drinks.
Granted, it wasn't the same without Maze and Linda. It never would be. ]
Hopefully it will get our mind off of things.
no subject
Okay. What’s going on? My Chloe alarm is going off. Or do you want to wait until we have pineapples with way to much rum in them to tell me?
no subject
[ She tilts her head, concentrating on the road as she steers them to a parking lot near the beach. ]
There's just a lot going on. I think it might help to talk it out.
no subject
Okay. Just spill it, okay? It's definitely going to help because it almost always does, you know.
[Ella is not wrong in the slightest.]
no subject
Lucifer wants to open a club, right? And he asked me to be his head of security.
no subject
But you're a cop though. Even if they made you a security guard here, that doesn't make you any less of a cop. It's not like a profession with you! It's who you are.
[And then more kindly:]
Is he not getting that?
no subject
[ She slides the car into a spot and puts it in park before turning her full attention to her friend. ]
I think he knows what I really want, Ella. But I don't want to disappoint him, either.

[ She does kind of smile, though. ]
But I guess you're right. We see plenty of each other.
no subject
Yeah. And you’re like you know all open and honest with your feelings and stuff. You don’t have to hide them with case things and whatever.
[Like Lucifer and his dumb ass ‘closure’ goes without saying.]
no subject
[ She puffs out a breath of air, before tilting her head to look at Ella. ]
Right? We totally didn't do that.
no subject
Uh yeah, you guys totally did. Closure and all that stuff, remember?!
